“Forget the former things. Do not dwell on the past.”

@ Isaiah 43:18

There is a season for preparing and a time for possessing. As we begin this year in fasting and prayer,

Let this fast tear down your delay language and your discouragement.
Let this fast position you for what He is already pouring out.
Let this fast be one of anticipation…

The promise and purpose of God is drawing near.
Let go of the old grief or guarded disappointment.
Lay down the familiar.

These are the days when kingdom theories are handed over and kingdom territories are handed out.

New days. New wine.

You’ve never stood here before.
You’ve never carried this kind of weight.
You’ve never tasted this kind of wine.

So get ready.

Reposition with hunger and prayer. Reposition with desire and awe. The one who hid you under his mighty hand is getting ready to raise you up.

This will be a year of repositioning.

This will be a year of reversing the plans of the enemy against you.

This will be a year of restoration.

This will be a year of reassignment.

This will be a year of re-ordering and redrawing.

This will be a year of release.

This will be a year of the rule of God in a fresh way in your life.

This is a year of fresh adventure and favour in mission.

This is a year of entering and possessing.

“What no eye has seen,
    what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived -
the things God has prepared for those who love him.”

1 Corinthians 2:9

How to Fast

Fasting, in a biblical context, is the practice of abstaining from food for spiritual reasons. We can find many examples of fasts in the Bible, and are able to categorize them into three dietary methods:

1. The Regular Fast: Abstaining from all forms of food, except water.

2. The Absolute Fast: Complete abstention from both food and drink. Rare and advised only for short durations. Not commonly recommended.

3. The Partial Fast: This is more of a restriction of food, or certain types of food, rather than abstinence. In this category, you will find examples such as:

  • The Daniel Fast: based on Daniel 1 and 10, eliminates meat, “choice foods” and alcohol. Only drinks water.

  • Juice-only Fast: this is what it sounds like. No solid foods, only juices and water to drink.

  • Meal Fast: omitting a certain meal each day, and spending that time with God.

There are many other variations of fasting. This is a simple list to give you a couple of ideas. In our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting, we do not require a specific type of fast, but rather that you follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.Pray about what/how God would have you fast over these 21 days. And remember to set aside time for prayer, worship, and reading Scripture.

*Before starting any fasting regimen, including dietary changes, individuals are strongly advised to consult with their healthcare provider to ensure it is safe and suitable for their specific health conditions and circumstances. It is important to note that the guidance on fasting, including types and durations, is based on historical and biblical contexts. However, personal health considerations and medical conditions may vary, and professional medical advice should be sought to determine the appropriateness of any fasting practice.
