CORE BELIEFS
We joyfully affirm the historic Christian faith as expressed in the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed below, and we confess the following core beliefs:
These foundational truths are central to our theology and practice. They are powerful, non-negotiable convictions that guide all we say and do.
-
We believe in one God—Eternal and Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
God exists eternally in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—coequal in power and glory, one in essence and being.
-
We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, true God from true God.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, suffered, and was crucified in our place for our sins.
He died, was buried, and on the third day was raised to life in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and intercedes according to the will of God.
He will reign until all His enemies are under His feet, and He will visibly return in glory to judge the living and the dead.
Of His kingdom and dominion there will be no end.
-
We believe in the Holy Spirit—equally, entirely, and eternally God.
He is the Lord and Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father [and the Son], and is to be worshiped and glorified with the Father and the Son.
He bears witness to the full worth and finished work of Christ, convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and indwells and empowers the Church.
-
We believe the Holy Scriptures—both Old and New Testaments—are the inspired Word of God, given by the Spirit through human authors.
Scripture is wholly true and trustworthy in all that it affirms and is the supreme authority in all matters of faith and life.
-
We believe all people are created in God’s image and likeness—male and female—with inherent dignity and value.
Humanity was made to live in covenant fellowship with God and to represent Him in creation.
Through disobedience, humanity fell from this original design, becoming subject to sin and death.
This breaking of covenant with God, rendered all humanity subject to God’s righteous wrath and condemnation and resulted in our alienation from God’s life, suppression of God’s truth, and hostility to God’s law.
All people are in need of redemption through Christ alone.
-
We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
By His perfect obedience, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, and exaltation as Lord, Jesus secured full salvation—pardon, righteousness, adoption, and new life.
There is salvation through no other person, creed, process, or power.
Each person is justified, forgiven, and reconciled to God by divine grace, received through repentance and faith—a grace that not only pardons sin but transforms the whole of life.
-
We affirm one, holy, universal, and apostolic Church—the Body of Christ to which all true believers belong.
The Church is the community of Christ’s followers, called to worship God, serve the world, and proclaim the Kingdom.
We affirm the communion of saints, the priesthood of all believers, and the local church as the primary context for worship, discipleship, and mission.
We celebrate baptism and the Lord’s Supper as visible signs of God’s grace and covenant.
-
We believe in the empowering of the Holy Spirit—often a conscious experience—for continuing the ministry of Jesus today.
Surrender to the Spirit’s voice, presence, and action is essential to life in the Spirit.
The Holy Spirit empowers the Church with diverse gifts, signs, and wonders, demonstrating the beauty and supremacy of Christ to people, powers, and principalities.
As the Father sent the Son into the world, so the Lord Jesus Christ sends his church to participate in God’s mission by words and works.
The church is called and commissioned to proclaim God’s Kingdom and present the full Gospel of God’s grace —through evangelism, healing, deliverance; to make disciples among all nations; to exhibit God’s character through compassionate care for the poor, the pursuit of righteousness, and wise and faithful stewardship of all God’s gifts.
-
We believe in the personal, physical, and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to reign in power and glory.
As He ascended to the Father, so He will return as King.
He will raise the dead and bring salvation and judgment to final completion.
God will then fully establish His Kingdom and complete the new creation—a new heaven and new earth, free from all evil and evildoers, all suffering and death, where God will dwell with His people and be glorified forever.
THE CREEDS
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
He ascended into heaven,
He is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God,
the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the only-begotten Son of God,
begotten from the Father before all ages,
Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made;
of the same essence as the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
He came down from heaven;
He became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary, and was made human.
He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered and was buried.
The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again with glory
to judge the living and the dead.
His kingdom will never end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life.
He proceeds from the Father and the Son
and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified.
He spoke through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church.
We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look forward to the resurrection of the dead,
and to life in the world to come.
Amen.
