This year Dwelling Place Compassion is opening up Exploring Compassion Serve Days as an opportunity for individuals to experience serving in our pantries, shower environment and King's Table. Here are the specifics:
On Wednesday evening, 11/15, come and serve at our indoor food pantry at Dwelling Place from 5:30 - 8PM. We have many different roles that work for guests of all ages. Arrive at 5:30PM for pizza and a short briefing. It will be a blessed night of caring for those struggling to put food on their tables.
On Thursday morning, 11/16 we have two shifts who can experience what volunteering at our shower environment at the shower trailer on the field on the east side of our campus:
8:30 - 10:30AM
10:30am - 12:30PM
Each shift will help some of the most vulnerable in our community access a hot shower, clean clothing and access to our food pantry.
On Sunday afternoon, 11/19 from 12-3:30PM, we will host a King's Table event where we will invite individuals that are living in local homeless shelters for a multi-course meal, something like a wedding reception. We will lavish them with love and wonderful food and entertainment. It's a wonderful time to hear and share stories of what shapes us all and all we have in common.
Children under 14 need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children 8 and under need one-on-one supervision at all times during the volunteer event.
Prepare for active participation in each environment--comfortable clothing, suitable for the weather and varying temperatures. Please wear closed-toed shoes.
We look forward to serving with you all!
